With tax refund checks coming in the mail quickly many hard working individuals are looking to finally buy a reliable form of transportation such as a used car.  In the coming weeks it should come as no surprise that some of these thrifty individuals are looking for Craigslist Cars Under $500.  Remember that these opportunities are not very common but if you look hard you may find some very attractive offers on older model cars from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Honda and Toyota.  For more on low prices on vehicles with zero tax on Craigslist make sure to check out this link: Craigslist Cars.

Finding Low Priced Craigslist Cars Under $500

Unfortunately, it is not going to be extremely easy to find cars under $500 on Craigslist.  In fact, it is going to be quite difficult to find vehicles under $500 anywhere but a junk yard.  That being said, car buyers should not give up on the search quickly.  By doing research on several Craigslist locations you might find a very cheap car that will get you from point A to point B.  Most individuals looking for a car under $500 simply want to get to and from work and other necessary locations like the grocery store.

The best way to go about searching for Craigslist Used Cars under $500 is to go to all the Craigslist locations within 100 to 250 miles of your current location.  There tend to be about 10 to 20 Craigslist locations within each state so most will be able to search quite a few options.  If you live in California, Florida, Texas or any of the other big states you will have multiple Craigslist search options.

Unfortunately, if the car is very far away it might be difficult to get it to and from your location.  Most vehicles that are under $500 are likely going to travel only short distances at one time.  If you have a truck with a trailer hitch you may want to think about buying the vehicle and towing it back just to save a little bit of life on the vehicle.  Here are some of the deals I found that should help.

Make sure to recognize that these are classified ads so they are not going to last forever.  I will probably break the links after a few weeks but you will be able to see that there are some vehicles out there that are under $500 on Craigslist.org.

This research did not take that long so you can see that there are many deals out there for Craigslist cars under $500.  I would urge you to take your time and look in different parts of your state and area.  Before making a purchase you might want to look at the Kelley Blue Book prices of some of the vehicles listed below:

Craigslist Listings for Car Parts and Car Accessories

When doing my research for Craigslist cars under $500 I noticed a ton of used car parts and accessories under $500.  When you put in the maximum amount of $500 you are going to get everything from $1 to $500.  This means anything that costs $20 or $40 in the Cars+Trucks section will shop up.  Another commonality that I saw was individuals posting their car monthly payments.  Obviously there are a ton of cars available for under $500 a month but you will want a vehicle that is under $500 total.

With this in mind I would suggest reading over the entire Craigslist ad.  If something seems too good to be true then it probably is.  If there is a 2003 Honda Accord for under $500 then you are probably looking at car payments per month rather than the price of the vehicle in full.  You might want to give the seller a call and make certain that the vehicle is under $500.  Also, make sure to never use Western Union or a cashiers check as this is probably a scam.  You have worked very hard for your refund check and you to not want to have this money go to someone who is scamming you.
